Jaguar I-Pace spotlight

The Jaguar I-Pace is arguably one of the most significant cars in the British marque’s illustrious history. This SUV is the very first all-electric Jaguar, meaning that it delivers zero-emissions while also retaining the agile handling typical of Jaguar DNA.

Those looking for a luxury SUV with relatively compact proportions will be well-served by the I-Pace. While clearly a departure from Jaguars of the past, its design remains authentic with taught lines and is distinctive thanks to the brand’s signature grille.

Beneath the skin is a 90kWh battery that comes with a reassuring eight-year/100,000-mile manufacturer warranty. Electric motors drive all-four wheels for maximum grip in even the trickiest conditions, deploying a substantial 396bhp and 696Nm. That’s enough for a 0-62mph spring of just 4.8 seconds.

Performance in a different form delivers a range of up to 292 miles with the I-Pace able to charge at up to 100kW. That means via a 100kW rapid charger, you can get from 0-80% in just 45 minutes. Charging via a 7kW home wall box the Jag takes around 12 hours to fully charge, this will also enable you to take advantage of cheaper off-peak electricity tariffs overnight.

This isn’t your grandfather’s Jaguar… The cabin is full of tech and glossy surfaces. Large windows let in plenty of natural light, something that creates a spacious and airy feel to the interior. Those in the back are also afforded plenty of head and leg room, making this SUV ideal for ferrying both family and friends. A highly usable 505-litre boot is enhanced by a neat 27-lite front compartment under the bonnet which is idea for tidily storing charging cables.

The Jaguar I-Pace is a great car for those looking for something that will accommodate daily life, but also deliver a premium experience. Keen drivers will also relish this Jaguar’s eagerness through the bends and plentiful performance.
