We’re pleased to announce further commitments to the environment after joining the EV100 run by The Climate Group.
Tusker are celebrating 10 years as a carbon neutral company in 2020 and as part of a series of additional commitments this year, have recently joined with other organisations in making a pledge to accelerate the transition to Electric Vehicles (EVs).
As the transport sector is the fastest-growing contributor to climate change, electric cars offers a major solution in cutting millions of tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year, as well as curbing transport related air and noise pollution.
Tusker have joined the EV100 with a pledge to not only continue with net-zero emissions for their fleet, which is already in place, as each car is offset on their Car Benefit Scheme, but also to work to a completely electric fleet by 2030.
Tusker’s CEO, Paul Gilshan comments,
“Tusker have always had a commitment to the environment, with a number of measures in place to ensure our impact is minimised. We have been carbon neutral now for 10 years, offsetting our emissions through a number of internationally accredited programmes. Joining the EV100 was a natural step in pledging our future commitments to the adoptions of EVs and so we’re proud to continue with this. The Government have pledged to support people in driving EVs and with 0% benefit in kind salary sacrifice car benefit schemes are now the cheapest way to drive electric. With the plan to phase out petrol and diesel cars by 2035, we’re confident we can support our drivers with the transition to EVs by the EV100’s deadline of 2030.”
Tusker’s Car Benefit Scheme is offered to hundreds of businesses across the UK enabling employees to drive electric at low cost and with no deposit needed saving on average over £320 a month. Tusker’s cars offer a complete motoring package, including insurance, road tax, breakdown cover, replacement tyres, servicing and maintenance.
Helen Clarkson, CEO at The Climate Group, said: “We are pleased to welcome Tusker to EV100, and we applaud their commitment to switch their 20,000 strong fleet to electric by 2030. Businesses leading the charge on electric vehicles in our EV100 campaign are already seeing financial benefits from switching their fleets to electric. To further accelerate the inevitable shift to EVs, and effectively tackle climate change and air pollution, we need the auto industry to go all in on clean vehicles.”
