Wellbeing and the corporate impact

Wellbeing (noun) Definition: A good or satisfactory condition of existence; a state characterised by health, happiness, and prosperity.

Tusker, the Car Benefit People understand that employee happiness and wellbeing are intrinsically linked to benefits. Evidence shows that when employees feel valued and happy, they are more productive and effective in their roles. They’re also less likely to leave their position.

The wellbeing of employees of employees should therefore be of utmost importance to employers – keeping employees happy and healthy is crucial in today’s demanding corporate environment. It helps with organisational wellbeing too. Companies are able to meet with their Duty of Care requirements, as well as all relevant legislation.

Tangible benefits, with a high (perceived) value, can help achieve maximum excitement about benefits packages. A brand new car, is one such product which gets employees excited and because it’s such an essential part of day to day life, it can really make employees happy.

Providing access to brand new cars is one way for an organisation to demonstrate their commitment to employees. It removes the huge financial commitment that driving a new car usually brings.

Niall Silvestro, Travel and Benefits Officer at Aberdeenshire Council, confirms this. “I think the biggest [reason] for us [to offer the scheme] is it’s providing access to employees brand new vehicles essentially. They’re safe, they’re reliable. We feel it helps us meet our duty of care obligations, but it also has a kind of positive impact in [the employee’s] work / life balance too. So that’s really an important factor for us in providing this scheme.”

For Tusker drivers, there’s no requirement to take out a loan, undertake a credit check or provide a deposit – there is just a fixed monthly amount which is deducted from their salary. It’s one less thing to worry about.

The Car Benefit Scheme is total peace of mind. It’s a brand new, safer, less emitting car, complete with insurance, road tax, breakdown cover, servicing and tyres. And as a valued employee benefit, it’s been proven to engage, motivate and retain staff members – by up to 45%.

Neil Robson, Benefits and Payroll Manager for Northumbria Water Ltd agrees that the scheme is good for employee wellbeing. He comments, “I think overall the scheme does make employees happy, certainly the employees that have a car on the scheme talk to us about the way that they can manage their finances much easier – it gives employees a certain peace of mind that everything is included.  And as employees are happy, you know, it’s a good success story for us.”
